Wings Over The Delta

 

This four-night safari showcases the very best of the Okavango Delta and is available on any day of the week. We have suggested that you visit two separate lodges in the Delta, as the experiences and game opportunities offered are different.

However, as with all of our Botswana holidays, this itinerary is very flexible and can be tailor-made to your exact requirements.

DAY 1 MAUN-OKAVANGO DELTA
On arrival at Maun airport, you will be met and assisted onto your light aircraft flight (soft bags 20 kg limit) to the Delta. You may stay in Camp Okavango or Xugana Island Lodge.

In the afternoon undertake your first game activities. These are either on foot, by motorised boat or mokoro (a traditional canoe). Overnight: Camp Okavango or Xugana Island Lodge. (l,d)

DAY 2 OKAVANGO DELTA
A full day in the Delta with two game activities included. Overnight: Camp Okavango or Xugana Island Lodge. (b,l,d)

DAY 3 OKAVANGO DELTA
Transfer by boat to Camp Moremi on beautiful Xakanaxa Lagoon. Shaded by giant ebony trees, the magnificent Moremi Tree Lodge is an elegant, elevated thatch and timber structure, consisting of a main lounge, wildlife reference library, dining room and cocktail bar. Other facilities include a secluded swimming pool with sun deck, thatched boma and elevated viewing hide with unsurpassed views of the lagoon. Two game activities included. Overnight: Camp Moremi. DAY 4 OKAVANGO DELTA
Another full day with two game activities. Game drives here are by open 4X4 safari vehicles in the Moremi Wildlife Reserve, renowned for frequent sightings of lions, leopards and cheetahs, as well as wild dogs, whose numbers are rapidly dwindling in other areas. Overnight: Camp Moremi. (b,l,d)

DAY 5 OKAVANGO DELTA-MAUN
After your last game activity & breakfast, you will depart by plane for Maun airport to connect with your flight back to Johannesburg. (b)

OTHER OPTIONS
This four night tour can be enjoyed in the opposite direction and the number of nights at any of the lodges can be amended, essentially you can spend your four nights in any of the three Okavango Delta lodges featured below, and the price of the tour will not change. It is also possible to combine your visit to the Delta with Chobe National Park and/or Victoria Falls.

XUGANA ISLAND LODGE
On a wooded island in the Xugana private concession, the lodge has just eight reed & thatch chalets. Facilities include an outdoor pool & floating boma for dining (maximum eight guests per evening). Boat and canoe safaris only. No children under 12 permitted.

CAMP OKAVANGO
Located on remote Nxaragha Island. Offers 11 African-style tents on teak platforms, an outdoor pool, dining room, bar & outdoor patio for alfresco dining. Boat and canoe safaris only. No children under 12 permitted.

CAMP MOREMI
Located on Xakanaxa Lagoon, within the Moremi Game Reserve. Offers 11 African-style tents on teak platforms, boma, dining room, bar & outdoor pool. Boat and land safaris only. No children under 12 permitted.
